EXION Body: Non-Surgical Fat Reduction and Skin Tightening
I use EXION Body as a non-surgical body-contouring treatment for limited localised fat and mild skin laxity, rather than as a way to lose weight. The first step is to decide whether the concern is fat distribution, skin quality or true excess skin that requires a surgical solution.

What Is EXION Body and How Does It Work?
EXION Body is a device handpiece that delivers radiofrequency and targeted ultrasound energy to body tissues in a controlled way. It works with active cooling to help keep the skin surface comfortable. This allows limited fat deposits and mild laxity in the same area to be considered within one treatment plan.
The treatment does not surgically remove fat. Tissue response develops over time, so the aim is not major volume loss in one session. For a suitable patient, the goal is a more balanced contour and firmer-looking skin. You can compare the roles of the other handpieces in my guide to EXION treatments.
Who Is a Good Candidate for EXION Body?
Patients who may be suitable
I may consider EXION Body for patients who are close to their target weight, have small and localised areas of fat, retain reasonable skin quality and prefer a non-surgical option. It can address mild laxity and limited fat within the same plan.
When it may not be enough
EXION Body may not be the right answer for significant excess weight, larger fat deposits, folded skin or an expectation of substantial volume reduction in one treatment. In these situations, I discuss liposuction or surgery for excess skin separately.
What Areas Can EXION Body Treat?
Lower abdomen
This is one of the areas I assess most often when limited fat and mild laxity remain despite diet and exercise.
Back and flanks
Small contour irregularities around the back and love handles may be planned together with the surrounding tissues.
Inner thighs
It may be used where fat and laxity are mild and there is no true excess skin requiring removal.
Upper arms
I may consider a non-surgical option when the concern is limited fullness and mild laxity rather than marked sagging.
More than one area
Adjacent regions can be included in one course; the plan depends on the size of each area and the tissue characteristics.
The skin-quality limit
When elasticity is poor and the skin folds, a device cannot reproduce the result of surgical skin removal.
Is EXION Body Painful? Is Anaesthesia Needed?
EXION Body is a painless and comfortable treatment in my practice. I do not use anaesthesia, including topical anaesthetic cream. A controlled feeling of warmth can be present during treatment. Treatment time varies according to whether one small area or several regions are included.
Patients should report unexpected heat or discomfort during the session. Energy settings and handpiece movement are adjusted to the area and the individual tissue response.
How Many EXION Body Sessions Are Needed?
I recommend a course of four sessions and plan a minimum of three. Some patients can attend only three sessions, but I do not consider one or two sessions to be a completed treatment course.
I usually space sessions about two weeks apart. The number of areas, fat thickness and skin quality affect the plan; the same treatment area and settings are not used for everyone.
When Are EXION Body Results Assessed?
The biological response in fat tissue and the remodelling response of the skin do not finish when the appointment ends. Change develops gradually. I therefore assess the final result at around six months after the last session.
I do not promise the same centimetre loss or a fixed percentage change to every patient. Baseline fat volume, skin quality, weight fluctuation, treatment area and individual biology all affect the result.
Can I Shower or Exercise After EXION Body?
I do not impose routine restrictions on showering, exercise or normal daily activities after treatment. No anaesthesia is used, so patients can return to their usual routine. Brief warmth or mild redness may occur in the treated area.
I do not routinely recommend lymphatic drainage massage after EXION Body. Unless a separate clinical reason is identified, I also do not prescribe a compression garment or special aftercare programme.
EXION Body vs Liposuction and Other Non-Surgical Treatments
EXION Body provides non-surgical contour support for small fat deposits and mild laxity. Liposuction is a surgical procedure that directly removes a larger amount of fat. Emsculpt Neo, CoolSculpting and other devices use different energy systems and pursue different goals, so they should not be described as identical treatments.
EXION Body is the device I use for non-surgical body contouring in my clinic. Read my non-surgical body-contouring guide for the broader decision process and my skin-tightening guide for the limits of treating skin laxity without surgery.
Risks, Contraindications and Safety
Temporary warmth, redness, sensitivity or mild swelling may occur. Patients should contact the clinic if they experience unexpected pain, a marked skin reaction, blistering or discomfort that does not settle.
Pregnancy, active infection, an open wound, current medication and any electronic or metal implant must be reported during assessment. Suitability depends on both the treatment goal and the device safety protocol, as well as the patient’s health.
What Determines the Cost of EXION Body Treatment?
EXION Body cost depends on the number and size of the areas treated and the planned course of sessions. Treating one small region is not the same scope as treating the lower abdomen, back and flanks together. A clear treatment plan and price can therefore be provided after the tissues and target areas have been assessed.
Frequently Asked Questions
Does EXION Body cause weight loss?
No. It is not a weight-loss treatment. It is intended to support the appearance of limited localised fat and body contour in patients whose overall weight is suitable.
How many EXION Body sessions do I need?
I recommend four sessions and plan a minimum of three.
How far apart are the sessions?
I usually space sessions about two weeks apart.
Is EXION Body painful? Do I need anaesthesia?
The treatment is painless and comfortable. I do not use any anaesthesia, including topical anaesthetic cream.
Which areas are treated most often?
The lower abdomen, back, flanks, inner thighs and upper arms are the areas I assess most frequently.
Can I shower and exercise afterwards?
Yes. I do not impose routine restrictions on showering, exercise or normal daily activities.
Is lymphatic drainage massage needed?
No. I do not routinely recommend lymphatic drainage massage after EXION Body.
When will I see the final result?
Change develops gradually. I assess the final result at around six months after the last session.
Are EXION Body results permanent?
The change in the treated area may be maintained, but weight fluctuation, ageing and individual tissue characteristics affect the result. A lifetime result that never changes cannot be promised.
Does EXION Body replace liposuction?
No. It is a non-surgical option for small, localised fat deposits. Liposuction produces a different degree of change when greater fat volume or stronger contour definition is required.
Can EXION Body treat loose skin?
It may be considered for mild laxity. It cannot replace a surgical lift when the skin is markedly loose or folded.
Why does EXION Body treatment cost vary?
The number and size of treatment areas and the planned course of sessions determine the overall scope.
