Breast Reduction

After this operation, which takes an average of 2 hours, patients stay in hospital for 1 night. It is recommended to use a special bra for the first 6 weeks.

Breast reduction mammoplasty is a surgical procedure that balances body proportions by reducing the volume of large and sagging breasts. Physical comfort is targeted as well as aesthetic appearance; complaints such as shoulder, back and neck pain are alleviated.

Operation Duration 2 hours

Anaesthesia General

Discharge The next day

Return to Social Life: 3-5 days

Who is it suitable for?

It is suitable for women who experience posture disorder, shoulder collapse, skin irritation or decreased quality of life due to large and heavy breasts. It is also an ideal solution for those who want aesthetically smaller and upright breasts.

Surgical Planning

Breast reduction surgery is planned by evaluating breast tissue, skin elasticity and nipple position. The most commonly used technique is the “inverted T” (Wise pattern) incision; in this way, both excess tissue is removed and the breast is reshaped.

Large and heavy breasts can cause neck, back and shoulder pain over time. Breast reduction surgery aims to improve the quality of life of patients by providing physical comfort as well as aesthetic appearance. A natural and balanced appearance suitable for body proportions is planned for each patient.

The informed consent form is a legally required document signed by the patient prior to any medical procedure.

Please consult your doctor for detailed information. You will be asked to review the consent form carefully before your surgery.

Operation Process and Scars

The procedure takes 2-3 hours on average and is performed under general anaesthesia. It is recommended to stay in hospital for 1 night after the operation. Scars are positioned in and around the inframammary fold; they fade over time. Thanks to modern suturing techniques, scar appearance is kept minimal.

Aesthetic and Functional Results

Aesthetically smaller, erect and proportionate breasts are obtained. At the same time, physical relaxation is achieved. Clothing fit, posture and living comfort are visibly improved.

Aesthetic and Safety Balance

In the techniques applied by Dr. Sarper Mete, the long-term comfort of the patient and the protection of the breast tissue are as important as the aesthetic result. It is aimed to provide a significant effect without disturbing the naturalness.

Breast Reduction – Approximate Size & Tissue Removal Guide

A breast reduction size chart is not a fixed or exact scale. Patients with the same bra size may require different amounts of tissue removal and achieve different postoperative results.

To provide a general reference only:

• A patient wearing 32E may achieve a more proportionate result around 32C after removing approximately 300–400 grams of tissue per breast.

• A patient wearing 34DD may aim for a 34C appearance with an estimated 400–500 grams of tissue removal per breast.

These figures are approximate and not guaranteed outcomes. Surgical planning is individualized based on body proportions, skin quality, breast tissue characteristics, and the patient’s expectations.

The primary goal of breast reduction surgery is not a specific cup size, but long-term comfort, symptom relief, and a natural, balanced aesthetic result.

Frequently Asked Questions

Are there any scars after breast reduction?

The scars are inverted T-shaped; they fade over time and approach the skin colour. Visibility can be minimised with appropriate care.

Is the ability to breastfeed preserved?

In many techniques, the milk ducts are preserved, but the breastfeeding potential may be slightly reduced. This is assessed in detail before the operation.

Will there be growth again?

Breast growth may occur after weight gain, hormonal changes or pregnancy, but permanent results are obtained for many years after the procedure.

How many grams are removed during breast reduction surgery?

Typically, 300–800 grams of breast tissue may be removed per breast, depending on the patient’s anatomy and surgical goals.

How many cup sizes will I go down after breast reduction?

There is no guaranteed cup size after surgery. Most patients experience a reduction of 1–3 cup sizes, with the primary goal being comfort and proportional balance rather than a specific size.
