Breast Augmentation Surgery Prices 2026 | Factors Affecting the Price

Breast augmentation surgery is one of the most commonly performed cosmetic procedures in the world. One of the first questions I’m asked by my patients in my surgery is almost always the same:

“How much does breast augmentation surgery cost?”

This is a perfectly natural question. However, there is no single answer to this question. This is because the cost of breast augmentation surgery is not determined solely by the silicone implants used. The patient’s anatomical structure, the type of implant chosen, the surgical technique to be used, whether the procedure is performed in conjunction with a breast lift, the choice of hospital and many other factors have a direct impact on the price.

For this reason, I do not believe it is appropriate to discuss costs with my patients during the initial consultation. My role is, first and foremost, to examine my patient, understand their expectations and draw up the most appropriate treatment plan. Details of the costs are then provided in full by our patient advisers once this planning process has been completed.

In this article, I will explain in detail the most important factors affecting the cost of breast augmentation surgery, what to look out for when researching prices, and my own surgical approach.

Why Does the Cost of Breast Augmentation Vary from Person to Person?

It is quite common to search for ‘a single price’ online. However, in plastic surgery, it is virtually impossible for two patients to undergo exactly the same operation.

For example, let’s consider two different patients who want 250 cc implants.

In some patients, it may simply be a case of insufficient breast volume, in which case standard breast augmentation surgery is sufficient.

In the other patient, however, postnatal sagging has developed, and even if the same implant were to be used, a breast lift would also need to be performed.

Even if the same implant is used for both patients, the duration of the operation, the surgical planning and the technique to be employed will be entirely different.

For this reason, the correct price can only be determined following an assessment of the patient.

The Most Important Factors Affecting the Cost of Breast Augmentation

1. The Patient’s Anatomical Structure

Each patient’s ribcage width, breast tissue, skin thickness and current breast volume differ from one another.

When planning surgery, I do not base my decisions solely on the cup size requested by the patient.

First of all;

  • breast base width,
  • skin elasticity,
  • existing breast tissue,
  • the structure of the ribcage,
  • lifestyle,
  • long-term expectations

are being assessed together.

This is because the same implant can produce completely different results in two different patients.

2. Is it just a breast augmentation, or is a breast lift also required?

This is one of the factors that has the greatest impact on the price.

During the consultation, many patients assume they only want silicone implants. However, following the assessment, we can see that there is significant sagging of the breast.

In such cases, using an implant alone is often not sufficient.

In some patients, a breast lift is also required during the same session as the implant placement to restore volume.

Of course, the decision is made entirely on the basis of a joint assessment.

Some patients may opt for implants alone because they do not want any scarring. In such cases, the possibility of sagging in later years is discussed in detail prior to the operation, and the patient makes an informed decision, fully aware of all the advantages and disadvantages.

3. The Implant Used

In recent years, I have most frequently used Motiva implants in my own practice. The main reason for this is that I find the soft structure and tissue compatibility of the Ergonomix range, in particular, to be very effective. However, I do not have any commercial partnership with any implant brand. For me, what matters is not using a specific brand, but selecting the implant that is best suited to my patient.

For this reason, I also opt for Mentor, Polytech or B-Lite implants when necessary. I have been using Mentor implants with confidence for many years, particularly in patients who require anatomical (teardrop-shaped) implants.

Rather than which implant is popular on social media, what matters is which one is suitable for your anatomy. This is because the same implant can produce completely different results in two different patients.

4. Surgical Technique Used

The question patients ask me most often is:

“Is over-the-muscle better, or under-the-muscle?”

In fact, there is no single correct answer to this question.

In my practice, I opt for the dual-plane (semi-submuscular) technique in approximately 80 per cent of breast augmentation procedures.

This is because, whilst taking advantage of the natural appearance and implant camouflage provided by submuscular placement, we are also able to significantly reduce some of the disadvantages that can be observed with the fully submuscular technique.

In particular, for patients who are to undergo breast augmentation combined with a breast lift, my preference is almost always for the dual-plane technique.

I no longer use the deep subcutaneous technique as part of my routine.

This does not mean that the over-the-muscle technique is poor.

In some patients, an epicutaneous placement may be a far more appropriate choice.

In particular, submuscular placement may yield successful results in patients with sufficient breast tissue or in those with the appropriate anatomy for the Preserve technique.

The important thing is to adapt the technique to the patient.

Trying to adapt the patient to the technique is not the right approach.

5. The Surgeon’s Experience

Breast augmentation surgery may appear to be a fairly standard procedure when viewed from the outside.

However, the details that determine the success of an operation are often measured in millimetres.

The preparation of the implant pocket, the preservation of the inframammary fold, the accurate determination of implant width, the achievement of symmetry between the two breasts, and long-term planning are all aspects that are developed entirely through surgical experience.

Over the course of my approximately 15 years’ experience in plastic surgery, I have performed more than 3,500 breast aesthetic procedures.

When planning surgery today, I try to anticipate not only the outcome on the day itself, but also how the breast will behave years later.

Because, for me, a successful breast augmentation operation is not just about the lovely photos taken after the operation.

The important thing is that the result should be maintained for as many years as possible.

6. Hospital and Surgical Safety

Some patients focus solely on the surgeon when comparing prices.

In fact, the hospital where the operation is carried out is just as important as the surgeon.

I have been working with the hospitals where I perform surgery for many years.

For this reason, I only perform surgery at centres where I have confidence in the surgical facilities, the anaesthesia team and the intensive care facilities.

For me, luxury is not a priority when choosing a hospital.

Patient safety is the top priority.

Modern operating theatre facilities, an experienced anaesthesia team and intensive care facilities that can be utilised when necessary are integral to a successful operation.

Is Cheap Breast Augmentation Surgery Always a Good Deal?

Breast augmentation surgery is a procedure that will be with you for many years to come.

For this reason, I don’t think it’s right to focus solely on the option offering the lowest price.

I always tell my patients the same thing:

The true cost of an operation is not just the fee you pay.

The wrong choice of implant, inappropriate surgical planning or unnecessary revision surgery can result in much greater costs—both financial and emotional—in the long term.

For this reason, when assessing the price, you should look not only at the figure itself, but also at what service you are getting in return for that figure.

Situations Requiring Breast Augmentation Revision

Throughout my approximately 15 years’ experience in plastic surgery, I have performed both primary breast augmentation procedures and revision surgeries. Revision surgery requires far more planning than the initial procedure. This is because we are no longer simply selecting a new implant; we are also assessing the effects that the previous operation has had on the breast tissue. One of the most common reasons I encounter among patients seeking revision surgery is the selection of an implant that is unsuitable for the patient’s anatomy.

One of the most common problems I encounter in revision surgery is the selection of implants that are unsuitable for the patient’s anatomy. Sometimes, implants that were chosen years ago—and which are larger than necessary—can lead to thinning of the breast tissue, sagging of the skin and changes to the inframammary fold. In these patients, simply replacing the implant is not enough; we may also need to reconstruct the implant pocket and the inframammary fold. For this reason, when selecting an implant, I try to plan not only for the day of the operation but also for the outcome years down the line.

However, there is one important point I would like patients to be aware of.

Conditions such as capsular contracture, rippling, bottoming out or the ‘double bubble’ effect do not always indicate surgical error. Human tissue is living and continues to change over time. The patient’s skin structure, weight fluctuations, pregnancy, breastfeeding, the ageing process and biological healing characteristics can also influence the long-term outcome.

For this reason, it is not correct to draw conclusions based solely on the outcome when assessing revision surgery.

Not every technique you see on social media is suitable for every patient

In recent years, I have noticed that certain implant brands or surgical techniques are being presented on social media as if they were the only correct method.

To be honest, I do not agree with this approach. I do not think it is right for a surgeon to present the technique they use as if it were the most successful method. If a single technique were truly superior to all others for all patients, the other methods would have been phased out of the medical literature years ago.

In plastic surgery, what matters is not simply applying the most popular technique, but selecting the right technique for the right patient. If a single implant or a single surgical technique were truly the best option for all patients, other methods would not feature in the medical literature today.

The key is to choose the right technique for the right patient.

Although I am one of the surgeons who most frequently uses the dual-plane technique today, I also prefer submuscular placement in suitable patients. Similarly, whilst I most often use Motiva implants, I also use Mentor, Polytech or B-Lite implants when necessary.

My approach is never to advocate a particular brand or technique, but rather to determine the most appropriate option for my patient.

My Priorities for a Successful Breast Augmentation Operation

Every surgeon may have a different perspective on surgery.

For me, there are three key objectives of a successful breast augmentation operation.

1. Patient Safety

For me, the most important part of the operation is ensuring that my patient comes through it safely.

For this reason, I attach great importance to the pre-operative assessment. I do not schedule any surgery until the necessary blood tests, imaging studies and anaesthetic assessment have been completed.

However good the surgical outcome may be, patient safety always comes first.

2. Achieving the Look My Patient Wants

One of the areas I devote the most time to during a consultation is understanding exactly what outcome my patient is seeking. After all, it is not my body, but my patient’s. My role is not to impose my own aesthetic preferences, but to fulfil my patient’s expectations within safe limits. Of course, where requests could pose anatomical problems or lead to difficulties in the long term, I explain this clearly. Beyond that, aesthetic choices are, as far as possible, up to my patient.

For this reason, one of the areas I devote the most time to during a consultation is understanding exactly what kind of result my patient is looking for. However, as far as possible, I try to fulfil my patient’s expectations rather than imposing my own aesthetic preferences. After all, it is my patient’s body, not mine.

3. Ensuring the Result Is Maintained for Many Years

A successful operation should not be assessed solely on the basis of photographs taken during the first month.

My aim is for my patient to remain satisfied with the outcome, even years later.

For this reason, I plan every detail—from the choice of implant to the preparation of the implant site—with long-term outcomes in mind.

Of course, the human body is a living organism and continues to change over time.

It may be affected by pregnancy, breastfeeding, changes in weight and the ageing process.

However, proper planning can significantly mitigate the impact of these changes.

How Does the Process Work for Patients Arriving from Abroad?

Patients from many different countries around the world come to our clinic.

For our patients coming from abroad, the process begins well before the operation.

The initial assessment is carried out using photographs. Expectations are then discussed in detail during a video call, and a treatment plan is drawn up for suitable candidates.

Post-operative check-ups are not limited to the period spent in hospital.

Even after they have returned to their home countries, we continue to closely monitor their recovery through photographs and online meetings.

For me, a successful treatment is not just about the operation going well, but about my patient completing the entire process whilst feeling safe.

What Should You Look Out for When Researching Breast Augmentation Prices?

I wouldn’t recommend focusing solely on the figures when comparing prices.

Be sure to find out the answers to the following questions:

  • What is the brand of implant used?
  • Are hospital and general anaesthesia costs included in the price?
  • Are post-operative check-ups included in the price?
  • Are the support bra and the necessary medication included in the pack?
  • How often does the surgeon perform this operation?
  • Is the surgery plan really tailored specifically to you?
  • When choosing the right surgeon, I would recommend that you always arrange a face-to-face consultation, rather than basing your decision solely on social media posts or online reviews.

I would not recommend basing your decision on social media or online reviews alone when choosing a surgeon. Plastic surgery is a long journey that requires mutual trust. If you feel at ease during the consultation, receive clear answers to your questions, and feel confident about what is being explained to you, you are much more likely to have chosen the right surgeon. Feeling safe during the consultation and receiving clear, understandable answers to your questions are among the most important steps towards a successful operation.

Conclusion

The cost of breast augmentation surgery is, of course, an important factor. However, it should not be the sole deciding factor when making a decision.

Choosing the right implant, planning the appropriate surgical technique, safe hospital conditions and the surgeon’s experience are factors that directly influence your long-term satisfaction.

With approximately 15 years’ experience in plastic surgery and the expertise I have gained from performing over 3,500 breast aesthetic procedures, I adopt a personalised approach for each of my patients rather than following a standard plan.

Because, in my view, a successful breast augmentation operation is one that is, first and foremost, safe; secondly, one that meets the patient’s expectations; and thirdly, one that produces a result which can be maintained for as many years as possible.

Frequently Asked Questions

Why does the cost of breast augmentation surgery vary from person to person?

It is not possible to quote a standard price for breast augmentation surgery. The characteristics of the implant to be used, whether a breast lift is required, the surgical technique to be employed, the duration of the operation and the hospital’s facilities are the most important factors affecting the price. For this reason, an accurate price can only be determined following a consultation.

Is the cost of breast augmentation surgery inclusive of the implants?

This may vary depending on the clinic. When comparing prices, I would strongly advise you to find out whether the implant brand, hospital fees, general anaesthesia and post-operative check-ups are included in the package.

Is the most expensive implant the best implant?

No. Price alone is not the deciding factor when choosing an implant. It is far more important to select an implant that is suitable for the patient’s anatomy, their expectations and the surgical plan.

Is the supra-muscular technique more expensive, or the dual-plane technique?

The surgical technique alone is not a factor that determines the price. However, the degree of difficulty of the operation and any additional procedures may affect the total cost.

Does the price change if a breast lift is performed alongside breast augmentation?

Yes. As a breast lift requires additional surgical procedures, the duration of the operation and the planning involved vary. For this reason, it is priced differently from breast augmentation surgery alone.

Is breast augmentation surgery covered by the SGK?

Breast augmentation surgery carried out for cosmetic reasons is not covered by social security. However, different arrangements may apply in certain reconstructive cases.

How long does breast augmentation surgery take?

A standard breast augmentation operation usually takes between 1 and 1.5 hours. The duration of the operation may be longer if a breast lift or revision surgery is also carried out.

Will I be able to be discharged on the same day?

Most of my patients are able to be discharged on the same day as their operation or the following day. This decision is based entirely on the extent of the operation and the patient’s general condition.

When can I go back to work?

Patients who work at a desk are usually able to return to their daily lives within a few days. For patients in jobs that require physical strength, this period may be longer.

When can I start exercising?

Light walking is permitted in the early stages. However, it is generally recommended to wait a few weeks before undertaking exercises that place a heavy strain on the chest muscles. The exact duration may vary depending on the surgical technique used.

Can implants be used for a lifetime?

There is no set replacement schedule for modern silicone implants. It is not true that every implant needs to be replaced every 10 years. As long as they are not causing any problems, there is no need to replace them simply because the time has elapsed.

Will it stop me from breastfeeding?

Breast augmentation surgery carried out with proper surgical planning does not affect breastfeeding ability in most patients. However, as each patient’s anatomy is different, this issue should be assessed separately prior to surgery.

What should I look out for when choosing a surgeon?

I do not believe it is right to base your choice of surgeon solely on social media posts or online reviews. It is far more important that you feel at ease during the consultation, that your expectations are listened to carefully, and that the treatment plan suited to you is explained in detail.

I always advise my patients as follows:

Be sure to have a face-to-face consultation with your surgeon before the operation. If you are satisfied with the answers you receive to your questions and feel reassured, it will be much easier for you to make the right decision.
